The St. Ann Parish Picnic was held on May 7-8, 2010. There were exciting rides, fun games, and delicious food. There was even music in the evenings! It was wonderful to see all the happy faces despite the chilly temperatures. Special thanks to all the members of the planning committee including Fr. Bill, Michelle Haley, Katie Andrews, Robyn Provost, Bruce Gardiner, and Matt Dooley. All the fantastic volunteers helped everything to run smoothly, too. Mark your calendars now for the picnic next year!

Congratulations to the 2010 St. Ann Confirmation Class!

Twenty-two of our seventh and eighth grade students received the Sacrament of Confirmation on May 20, 2010. Msgr. Vernon Gardin, the Vicar General of the Archdiocese, celebrated the sacrament with them. This sacrament completes their full initiation into the Catholic Church and shows their personal commitment to their faith.

St. Ann Catholic School is pleased to announce that we now have a fan page on Facebook. The fan page was created to allow St. Ann alums, parents, parishioners and friends to keep in touch with everything going on within the St. Ann community. We know there are a lot of people who love the St. Ann community and we thought this would be the perfect way for them to show their support.
We encourage you to visit us over at Facebook and to become a fan. And once you’ve become a fan please feel free to write on our wall, start a discussion or even post your favorite St. Ann photo. Our Facebook community will only be as successful as those that contribute so make sure you visit often and invite others you know who have a spot in their heart for St. Ann Catholic School and Parish.

On Wednesday the students surprised Father Bill with a special mass to celebrate the 25th anniversary of his ordination. The altar and ambo were decorated with beautiful silver cloth. Some 6th and 7th grade students opened and closed the mass with a joyous liturgical dance. Before the mass ended, student council representatives presented Father Bill with a money tree filled with dollar bills from all the students. Finally, Mrs. Reichenbach and the whole congregation gave Father Bill a blessing. Congratulations Father Bill and thank you for everything you do for St. Ann School!

On Wednesday Oct. 28th the Third Grade participated in the annual saints mass. Each student chose a saint to research. At the all-school mass, the students processed down the aisle dressed as their saint and led the congregation with their singing. After mass the students set up a “saints” museum in the cafeteria. People from the parish, parents and other students were able to walk around and hear the saints tell about their lives. The following day the saints went to the Mother of Good Shepherd convent to visit with the sisters. The sisters loved the visit.
Great job 3rd graders and Mrs. Joiner!

On Friday afternoon the students met in church for an all-school rosary. The 8th graders planned the rosary and classes took turns leading each decade. It was a perfect way to end Red Ribbon Week.

The St. Ann school community gathers in the gym every morning at 8:10 for prayer. Each class takes weekly turns leading the teachers, students and parents in prayer and song. The 8th grade has been acting out one station of the cross each morning. Their prayer encourages the students to “look into their hearts” to understand how Jesus’ suffering can help them understand the difficulties they face in their own lives.
