A Million Thanks…

A million thanks to all the families, students, and UMSL volunteers who helped during the 3rd Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service. At one point during the day there were at least 60 people busy painting the main hall, cleaning every classroom and stairwell, and washing walls in the restrooms. There was even a group at work outside removing the last of the bushes under the large pine tree by church. That area is going to become a Memorial Garden in memory of Mr. Wiedmann. The weather was so beautiful that we enjoyed our pizza lunch outside under the pavilion. God gave us many blessings on Monday!

3rd Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service

Monday, Jan. 16, 2013 | 9 AM – 2 PM

Please plan to join the school faculty, volunteers from UMSL, and other school families for a Day of Service at St. Ann Catholic School. Students in grades 4-8 are welcome to help, too. We hope to have babysitting available for the younger students.

Last year, volunteers cleaned the science lab, painted the hallway area outside the science lab and the 2nd floor hallway, and cleaned many other areas. This year we plan to concentrate a lot of effort in our front hallway painting, cleaning, and re-decorating the space. We also hope to do some electrical work.

If we have enough volunteers we can accomplish so much!

Please mark you calendar now and let the office (381-0113) know if you can help. We want to be sure to have enough food for lunch for everyone!

You will receive a free MLK Day of Service T-shirt as well as a free breakfast at the UMSL Student Center and a free lunch at St. Ann School.

Kathy Reid wins Emerson Excellence in Teaching Award

I am very excited to announce that Mrs. Kathy Reid, our amazing first grade teacher, has received the Emerson Excellence in Teaching Award. This well-deserved award will be presented to her and 4 other Catholic school teachers at a special awards ceremony and reception on Nov. 13 at the Sheldon Concert Hall. Emerson Electric honors approximately 100 kindergarten through college level educators yearly. Please join me in congratulating Mrs. Reid on this recognition of her hard work and talent as an educator.

2011 Talent Show Recap

This past Saturday night the St. Ann Parish Center experienced a full house for the 2011 St. Ann Catholic School Talent Show. It was a night full of amazing performances that included everything from comedy and acting to magic and musical performances. It was great to see so many friends and families there to cheer on the amazing performers. Thanks to everyone that helped put on the show and to everyone that performed. Fright Night 2011

Preschool and grade school kids are invited to attend. Tour the terrifying haunted house. Win prizes at our ghostly games. Sit back for a horrifying hay ride. Dare to get a freaky face painting or horrible hair spraying. Dress up and enter the costume contest. Tasty treats and drinks will be available for all our ghoulish guests. Tickets can be purchased that night. All games, tours, rides, foods and drinks require tickets.

Open House

We begin the evening at 6:30 pm with a brief meeting in church. Fr. Bill Kempf and Ms. Reichenbach will high-light key points for the year. Members of the Men’s Club and SACPO will also make presentations. Following the meeting parents are invited to go to school to hear presentations by the individual classroom teachers. You will learn their expectations for the year and a brief overview of the curriculum. In the gym, there will be an opportunity to sign up for various activities such as SACPO events, Boy Scouts, and Girl Scouts. There will also be a used uniform sale.

Please feel free to join us as we begin the school year at 8:10 am with Morning Prayer in the gym. We will ask for special blessings for students, teachers, and parents as we begin another year of growing closer to God. Our school theme for this year is Alive in Christ!

There will be a noon dismissal today and tomorrow. AfterCare is not available until next week.

New Parent Meeting & Popsicle Social

at 6:30 pm in the Church, Fr. Bill Kempf and Ms. Reichenbach will have a short meeting with the new parents to officially welcome them to St. Ann Catholic School. Key points for the year will be high-lighted. Babysitting will be provided by our Student Ambassadors.

At 7 pm we will join all school parents and children under the pavilion for the annual Popsicle Social. This is a great opportunity to meet other parents, their children, and the faculty. Relax and enjoy one of the last evenings of summer vacation!
