St. Ann Student Opera(s) & Step Team

Music classes for grades 5-7 have been involved in a special program this spring. Each grade has created a unique opera! The students have been working hard with Mr. Jermaine Smith, professional opera singer and proud father of two St. Ann School students. They have been learning songs, building sets, creating props, designing costumes, thinking about stage crew, and generally doing everything that has to be done to prepare for an opera performance. Every student has an essential role. Some of them are lead performers, some are stage hands; everyone has a job that contributes to the whole.

Selected students from grades K-4 have also been working with Mr. Smith. They are forming the first St. Ann School Step Team. The students have practiced diligently and take their roles as members of the team very seriously. The smiles on their faces show that it is fun, too!

Please mark your calendars for Wed., March 18 at 6:30 p.m. in the Parish Center for the debut of three St. Ann School student-created operas and the 1st appearance of the Step Team! This will be a fun evening of three incredibly different 10 minute operas and the enthusiastic performance of the Step Team.
