Service Opportunities
The Theme for 2012-13 is Alive in Christ! The students have many opportunities to offer service to others. First graders make monthly visits to the Convent of the Immaculate Heart where they read to the elderly sisters. The 4th grade coordinates a collection of personal care items that are donated to the USO at Lambert Airport. Student Council sponsors fundraisers for groups such as the Humane Society, the Leukemia Association and the family of our late teacher John Weidmann. Each year the students collect hundreds of pounds of food and form a human chain to deliver it to the local Caritas food pantry. This year the upper block students made mission rosaries that were sold during the student lunch periods. Money from the rosary sales was donated to the missions. Every year the Art students create holiday cards that are given to Sabbath Manor, a neighboring home for the mentally ill. These are just a few examples of the opportunities students have to be Alive in Christ through service!
